A Great Way To Find A Restaurant In Pau
I have recently moved to Pau and love it. Even so, just like any new home, there are a few things which you have to locate and discover as a high priority and a good restaurant in Pau was at the top of my list of things to find.
Once you have a roof over your head and comfy bed the next step is to arrange quality of life. In my vocabulary, quality of life is defined by two things; company and food (with a glass of wine of course). I also learn that the two tend to go hand in hand. A good meal is always improved when you are in proper company, just as good company will usually lead to the discovery and experience of many good meals.
Now, how did I start my quest for a good restaurant in Pau? Well, I started with the bars. I wanted to be familiar with what sort of people lived here. I wanted to know who were the driving force of the market. I wanted to know if I was in a town of old people who frequented cafes or is a town driven by live music and social interactions which roared into the early hours. The great, and surprising news, is that I found everything. Literally, for instance, the Boulevard des Pyrenees. If you sit outside of one of these bars for a whole day and evening, (which of course I have done) you will notice representatives of every age and rank of the Pau life.
So then I had to choose what to attempt first. A quick chat with the bar man provided me a bit of a feel for the place. He was English and had lived here for five years. He was warm and welcoming and informed me everything from the right places to take a lady on a first date, down to the best locations for a hangover cure.
I soon realised that I did not actually want to test all the restaurants of Pau alone, therefore I loitered in the bar a bit longer, thinking how I was going to create a social circle. However, while I was wondering, it was being built for me. The bar man finished his turn at nine, and was meeting a couple of friends, before I knew it was were all sitting in a small Italian in the heart of the old town.
These guys turn out to be my close friends in Pau and together we have tried everything from the cafes to the Michelin star restaurants, and this is how I found my way to a great restaurant in Pau. Like what I've said, good company and good restaurants go hand in hand.
